When an audience comments on our website, their comment has to be approved by a Clarion moderator. In light of this, commenters on our site should act in accordance with the numbered list below:
- Be civil and respectful: Comments should be respectful and courteous to other commentators as well as the article authors. There will be no tolerance for insults, hate speech or abusive language that incites violence. Disagreements are acceptable, but they should be communicated in a considerate and respectful way.
- Stay on topic: Comments must be pertinent to the topic of the article. Off-topic comments may be deleted to maintain the focus of the conversation. Avoid spamming or excessive self-promotion. Comments that are only meant to promote themselves or contain irrelevant links will be removed. Irrelevant or spam comments will be removed.
- Not discriminate or harass: Discriminatory or harassing comments based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other form of personal identity are not allowed.
- Do not share private and personal information: Do not share personal information in the comment section, whether it pertains to yourself or others. Respect the privacy of individuals mentioned in articles.
- Anonymity: Commenters are not allowed to use pseudonyms or remain anonymous.
