Citrus’ student government, the Associated Students of Citrus College, hosted a video screening on March 17 to celebrate women in music in honor of Women’s History Month.
Attendees gathered in the Campus Center to watch music videos from some of music’s biggest female artists.
Citrus College Student Life Supervisor Rosario Garcia said it was important to have the event be more of a social gathering, to allow attendees to connect and share their passion for music.
The screening showcased music videos from artists who have left their mark in the industry like Beyonce, Katy Perry and Aretha Franklin. They also showcased videos from up and coming artists like Raye.
Some of the music videos included Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Aretha Franklin’s 1967 live performance of “Respect”.
“Events like this help expand the Citrus community as a whole and it helps to make friends with similar interests,” Citrus student Chaveli Diaz said.
There were snacks and light refreshments for guests to enjoy. Attendees were socializing and discussing the music.
Student Life Clerk Audrey Zereda, one of the hosts of the event, said she had the idea for the video screening because she loves music and likes to put on music videos at home and it was an experience she wanted to share with the students at Citrus.
