Citrus’ men’s basketball heads to state

Citrus’ men’s basketball won a spot in the top eight of the 3C2A and advance to state after a victory against Cypress College. 

The Owls beat the Cypress Chargers 98-82 at the Owls Nest on March 8. 

Point guard KJ Perry led the way for the Owls putting up 30 points and going four for five from three point range. 

The win relied on the Citrus starters. They scored 81 of the team’s 98 points. 

The Owls scored 17 points off the bench, with point guard Brandon Suber earning 11 points. This was their lowest total since their game against Mira Costa on Nov. 5, 2024. 

Owls guard/forward JJ Mitchell scored 17 points for the Owls. He went one for one from three and made eight of ten field goal attempts. 

Forward Pajon Slater grabbed nine rebounds while putting up eight points. 

With the win, the Owls secure the second seed in the South and will be playing the third seed from the North, Los Positas College.

The Owls are now three wins away from the state title. 

The game versus Los Positas will be at 3 p.m. March 13 at Mt. San Antonio College.
