A Citrus College student was detained and arrested by Glendora police officers in the S2 parking lot of Citrus College.
At about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27 a student was put in handcuffs and sat on the ground for questioning.
Citrus College campus safety officer Steve, whose last name was not provided by Campus Safety officials in a follow-up call, said that they (Campus Safety officers) tried to keep things calm between them and the student, but circumstances escalated and a crime (not specified) was committed.
During the arrest, the student raised his voice at police when questioned if he was in possession of any weapons. The student said they had just come out of a ceramics class (located in the Visual Arts building) that contained lots of sharp objects.
The student was searched by police officers and a bottle of alcohol was retrieved from his pocket. An officer opened and then poured the contents of the bottle on the ground.
Police retrieved the student’s belongings from the ceramics classroom and put his items in the back of a Glendora police car where the student was being held.
A student in the class, who spoke to the Clarion on condition of anonymity due to fear of retribution said the student who got arrested had stepped out of the ceramics class to smoke a cigarette and he got confronted by Campus Safety.
“We (the students in the classroom) didn’t hear exactly what went down, but he (the student who was arrested) was being super combative and fighting with them (Campus Safety),” the student said.
At the same time of the arrest, Citrus College had also received reports from the Glendora Police Department of an active shooter threat.
It is unknown whether the arrest of a student on campus is related to the active shooter threat. Campus Safety has denied requests to release any information.

Several Glendora Police cars parked in the parking lot by the Citrus Little Theater and proceeded to search Citrus’ campus at about 4:50 p.m. in response to the active shooter threat.
After the search was conducted, a Glendora police officer said that they were following standard protocol by searching the campus and the campus was safe.
Citrus College made a story post on its Instagram at about 5:30 p.m. acknowledging the threat and later an email was sent out by the Citrus Superintendent/President’s office at 6 p.m. detailing the threat.
The email said Citrus college received reports of a possible active shooter from the Glendora police department at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The Glendora police and Citrus College campus safety conducted a search throughout the Citrus campus and deemed the reports to be unfounded.
