Citrus’ student government appoints eight members to the board

At the beginning of the fall 2024 semester Citrus’ student government, Associated Students of Citrus College, appointed eight new members.

Over the course of the summer, prior to the fall 2024 semester, Marlene Fuentes who was elected president stepped down from the role and Eden Yang, who was originally elected as vice president, moved up to fill the role.

Joshua Lao, legislative liaison, and Jonathan Johnson, the student trustee for Citrus’ Board of Trustees, remain in their election positions.

Hamza El Lahib, who was elected in spring 2024, remains the only ASCC senator.

The eight new board members were appointed into their positions at the ASCC meeting on Sept. 3.

  • Treasurer: Julian Diaz 
  • Commissioner of Activities: Hina Furuyama
  • Commissioner of Athletics: Cora Averweg
  • Commissioner at Large: Natalie Kwok
  • Commissioner at Large: Frida Garcia
  • Commissioner at Large: Alexa Gonzalez
  • Commissioner of Inter-Club Council Relations: Isaiah Moses
  • Commissioner of Public Relations: Ruby Barlett

Julian Diaz ran for vice president in the spring 2024 election, but lost to Yang.

Furuyama and Moses ran for student trustee but lost to Johnson.

All these students will serve till the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
