Citrus’ CTE programs set to host an expo for K-12 students

Citrus’ Career Technical Education High School Articulation Program will host its inaugural expo for K-12 students.

The expo will be from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in Citrus’ Campus Center.

The Citrus CTE website said the CTE program is a planned process that connects two or more schools to facilitate a smooth transition for students moving from high school to college.

The program works to minimize course repetition and provides high school students opportunities to earn college credit for classes that are deemed acceptable to community college courses.

Career pathway specialist Alicia Lopez said in an email attending students of all grade levels will be able to explore diverse career pathways, meet Citrus faculty and discover the support services that make the transition to college smoother.

Students will also be able to connect with Citrus’ student clubs and explore extracurricular activities.

To encourage participation, students will receive a bingo card to complete by visiting different tables at the event and once the card is filled it will be entered into a drawing, with a winner being selected from one school to win a gift basket, Lopez said.

The event is expected to have 689 students attend, Lopez said.
