2024 Clery Act: Crime remains low at Citrus

Despite arson and burglary occurring on campus in 2023, overall crime remains low.

The 2024 Annual Crime Report said five crimes happened in 2023, four of which happened on campus. This is one more than last year.

In 2023 arson was reported on campus. This was the first time on Citrus’ Clery Act records which go back to 2007.

Two drug law arrests and one burglary also occurred on campus, the report said.

An aggravated assault occurred on public property, which is property adjacent to or immediately accessible from campus, the report said.

The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities to publish their Annual Security Report by Oct. 1 annually.

“As reflected in this year’s report and trending over the mandatory reporting period, overall crime on campus continues to remain minimal,” Citrus’ Campus Safety Director Ben Macias said in an email.
