Citrus’ Wellness Center will host a cholesterol clinic from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 25.
Citrus nurse Shauna Bigby and Citrus’ medical staff will be in charge of the cholesterol clinic, which will be held in the Wellness Center, located in room 147 on the first floor of the Student Services building.
Students can learn about how cholesterol affects their body, as well as foods that impact cholesterol, both positively and negatively, and how to take care of themselves health wise, Bigby said.
All students will be able to get a free cholesterol screening. Based on their results, students will be educated on their cholesterol levels, and what that means depending on the results, said Bigby.
“High cholesterol leads to heart attacks, it leads to strokes, so we hope to teach people healthy habits now to limit and reduce their risk factors,” Bigby said.
