ASCC president welcomes students to fall semester

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a great summer, and welcome to a new semester at Citrus College! My name is Eden Yang, and I am very excited to serve as your ASCC President this year. I will admit I am a little nervous (public speaking scares me more than strange noises at night), but it’s okay because I get to work with all the other amazing Executive Board members to make this another great year for Citrus College.

The start of a new semester means tackling some challenging classes. If you need help, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the free tutoring services offered by Citrus College. You can find them at the Learning Center in ED 113 and the STEM Center in MA 129. And if you’re interested, they are accepting applications for student tutors.

Speaking of free, get your student ID card at the library. It’s printed on the spot, with no need to wait 3-5 business days. Not only do you get to carry around something with your face on it, you can get student discounts and deals with it, including the GoPass (also free) from the Campus Center, which gives you unlimited rides on the Metro bus and rail.

Sometimes it is hard to get out there and meet new people—I know it was for me. However, I got to meet a lot of really cool people through school events and just hanging out on campus. That’s why I hope to plan lots of fun events and activities with the other members of ASCC this year that will increase community bonding and student participation.

As the Associated Students of Citrus College, our main goal is to represent you, the students, and to make sure your voices are heard. Let us know of any opinions or concerns you might have through the blue suggestion boxes, which can be found at the student services building, the library, and the campus center. Event ideas are welcomed as well. Just write them on the provided notecards and drop them into the box. We look forward to hearing from you!

Your friendly neighborhood ASCC President,

Eden Yang
