Two Citrus students won contested elections while three other students won uncontested positions as part of Associated Students of Citrus College.
Marlene Fuentes was voted president for the 2024-2025 academic year, receiving 89 votes. Fuentes was the only candidate running for ASCC president.
Eden Yang won the vice president race, tallying 48 votes to defeat Julian Diaz.
Joshua Lao was voted as legislative liaison with 76 votes. Lao was the only candidate running for the position.
Hamza El Lahib was elected into an ASCC senator position. He was the only student running for one of the seven seats available.
The position of student trustee was the most competitive, with five candidates running for the position.
Jonathan Johnson was voted as student trustee with 51 votes. Following in second was Hina Furuyama with 38 votes.
Jennifer Rodriguez came in third with 13 votes, in fourth came Samuel Castillo with six votes, and in last came Isaiah Moses with five votes.
Voter turnout totaled 117 ballots cast this year, a decrease compared to last year’s 132.
All students elected will assume office June 17 to serve for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
