Citrus College students from the Emerging Theatre Technologies program will travel to Dallas, Texas from April 26 – May 8.
While in Dallas, ETT students will perform practicum skills from Theatre 226: Concert Touring in partnership with Level 11 Production Company.
Students within the program will gain exposure working with professionals from both the company of Level 11 Productions and with the actual speakers of the conference they will put on in Dallas, Texas called “DreamBuilder LIVE.”
Head student coordinator, Karin Yazejian, explained how a trip like this can take months of planning and prepping to ensure that not only all the gear is tested properly, but also making sure that the gear will get there safely from California to Texas.
“It’s a long process and that’s just one gig,” said Yazajian.
As trips like these used to be very common for the students within the ETT program pre-pandemic, this will be the first out-of-state trip since then.
“I’m excited for the students,” said faculty member Daniel Volante. “When you make those relationships on all these gigs and make a report with all these clients.
“Sometimes later on when you graduate they can hire you as an independent contractor because they liked you so much. It’s kind of like practice for the real world.”
There will be 12 students participating and two faculty members.
The majority of tour expenses will be paid by Level 11 Production Company with the remaining amount of $27,220 covered by Associated Student Organization funds.
