Citrus Sports Roundup: Ryleigh Larue earns spot in all-WSC team for cross country

Football

Citrus College scored a 31-26 victory against Cerritos on Oct. 21.

The Owls had 281 passing yards and 144 rushing yards to help secure the win.

Cerritos’ Andre Lampley had the first touchdown of the game, accompanied by an extra point from Christian Guerra.

The Owls defense answered back by scoring a safety that triggered a 31-0 scoring run. 

Citrus is now 5-2 for the season and will be home to go against East Los Angeles on Oct. 28.

Volleyball

Citrus College suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-22) defeat against Santa Monica on Oct. 25. 

The Owls’ Faith Evaro had 10 kills and Desiree Reyes had six kills, while Vanessa Marquez had 12 assists. 

The Owls are now 5-18 for the season and will compete against Glendale on Nov. 1 at Citrus College. 

Men’s Soccer

Citrus College secured a 2-1 win against LA Pierce on Oct. 24.

The Owls’ Sammy Ghandour scored both goals, while assisted by Hector Guevara and Isaac Ochoa. 

Citrus is now 9-4-3 for the season and will be on the road to face Glendale on Oct. 27. 

Women’s Soccer

Citrus College secured a 4-0 win against Bakersfield on Oct. 24.

The Owls’ Dianna Garcia and Jayme Beatty each scored two goals that contributed to the victory. 

Citrus is now 7-4-4 for the season and will face LA Valley at home on Oct. 27.

Men’s Water Polo

Citrus College was taken down by LA Valley in a 20-7 loss on Oct. 25

The Owls’ Riley Bagley had three goals for the game, while Aiden Herald, Devon Dow, Gavin Turner and Thomas Gibon each had one.

Citrus is now 13-10 for the season and will compete at the Western State Conference Championship Tournament on Nov. 2 at LA Valley.

Women’s Water Polo

Citrus College went to overtime against Cuesta and had a 9-8 loss, while beating LA Valley that same day and ending with a 6-4 win. 

The Owls’ Sierra Beltran had four goals in the loss against Cuesta, while Andrea Hayler had two goals in the win against LA Valley.

Citrus is now 13-14 for the season and will compete in the Western State Conference Championship Tournament on Nov. 2 at LA Valley. 

Cross Country

Citrus College took part in the Western State Conference Championship on Oct. 20. 

The Owls’ Ryleigh Larue led the Citrus women with a time of 19:24.2, earning her a spot in the all-WSC first team.

Geo Cabello led the Citrus men with a time of 25:03.3 and earned an all-conference honorable mention.

Citrus will compete in the SoCal Championship on Nov. 3. 

Women’s Golf

Citrus College scored a 470 in the final tune-up before the Western State Conference Championship.

Isabelle Olivas- Lowell scored her fourth win of the season with a 78. 

Citrus will compete in the WSC Championship on Oct. 29 at the Rio Bravo Golf Course in Bakersfield.
