2023 Clery Act Recap: Crime remains low on campus

Crime has been on the decline for the last few years, especially in the drug violation category, where there were 43 in 2014 compared to zero this year.

Citrus College had a total of four crimes happen in 2022, according to this year’s Annual Security Report. The amount increased by one in comparison to last year.

The Clery Act mandates colleges and universities to provide the crime data that took place on campus, pointing out the steps to improve safety.

“Citrus College remains one of the safest colleges in the region, in Los Angeles County and in the state of California. Crime on campus continues to be minimal and violent crime is virtually non-existent,” said Campus Safety Director Ben Macias in an email.

Three crimes took place on campus property, which included a forcible fondling, a liquor law violation and a drug law arrest.

Another drug law arrest took place within Citrus’ public property.
