Citrus sports roundup: Women’s soccer takes down LA Valley 2-1

Football

Citrus College suffered a 31-21 road loss against Golden West on Sept. 30.

Golden West finished the game with 182 passing yards and 190 rushing yards in comparison to the Owls’ 164 passing yards and 153 rushing yards. 

Citrus will look to bounce back against San Bernardino Valley College on Oct. 14. 

Volleyball

Citrus College was defeated by Santa Monica in a 3-2 loss (25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 19-25, 15-10) on Sept. 29. 

Citrus’ Faith Evaro had 10 kills, while McKenna Cooper and Desiree Reyes each had seven kills. 

Santa Monica’s Maiella Riva had 11 kills to help them secure the victory. 

The Owls will be on the road to face Glendale on Oct. 6. 

Women’s Golf

Citrus College scored 458 at the fifth Western State Conference event on Oct. 2. 

Isabelle Olivas Lowell finished the event with a personal score of 76, the best of the event. 

The Owls will compete at the seventh Western State Conference event on Oct. 23 at the Santa Maria Country Club. 

Men’s Soccer

Citrus College fought hard in a 2-2 tie against Santa Barbara on Oct. 2.

The Owls’ two goals came from Sammy Ghandour and Jacob Ponce, who had his in the last minute. 

Citrus is now 5-2-3 for the season and will face Santa Monica on Oct. 6.

Women’s Soccer

Citrus College defeated LA Valley in a 2-1 victory on Oct. 3.

Citrus’ Jordan Crooymans scored a goal in the first half while its goalkeeper Maddy Moris scored a goal in the second half. 

LA Valley’s Natalia Cruz scored her team’s only goal. 

Citrus is now 4-2-2 and will play at home against Glendale on Oct. 6. 

Cross Country

Citrus College competed in the Western Conference Championship preview on Sept. 29.

Ryleigh Larue led the Citrus women with a time of 23:46.48 while Geo Cabello posted a time of 23:28.12 leading the Citrus men. 

Citrus will challenge other schools in the Chaffey College Invite on Oct. 7. 

Men’s Water Polo 

Citrus suffered a 16-6 loss against Cuesta, while also earning a 15-6 win against Santa Monica on Oct. 5. 

Riley Bagley had two goals against Cuevas and two goals in the match against Cuesta. 

The Owls will face Long Beach in the Riverside City College Tournament on Oct. 6.

Women’s Water Polo

Citrus College is now on a three-game win streak after a 24-3 win against Santa Monica on Oct. 5. 

The Owls’ Sierra Beltran had five goals while Arianna Pacheco and Frankie Pacheco had three goals each. 

Citrus looks to keep the momentum going against Palomar on Oct. 6.
