Letter from the editor

Hello Clarion readers! Happy belated new school year.

We understand that your reading habits may have evolved with technology, thus the reason the Clarion newspaper in the spring of 2023 ended its print publication. Now, we are solely digital. Nevertheless, we are determined to meet your expectations.

My name is Abiodun Collins, a sophomore at Citrus College, and to begin this new era, I will be serving as the editor-in-chief of the Clarion for the fall 2023 semester.

As a student journalist, more than putting pen to paper, I enjoy listening to people’s stories and sharing them with the world. I hold to the belief that stories and news are about people and the community and I hope to string this through the end of the semester with the help of the rest of the Clarion staff.

Although this new semester is exciting, it comes with its lows. This semester, the Clarion has one staff reporter and six staff designers.

This will have some implications that include:

  • Fewer stories as compared to previous semesters
  • A design and graphic-focused story. This means that our audience will see more stories that include photo galleries and infographics instead of traditional 300-500-word stories.

Despite having a small staff, I hope to guide the Clarion staff in newsworthy and accurate reporting of community events.

The Clarion’s team of journalists, editors and contributors is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of journalism. We are committed to seeking the truth, irrespective of where it leads us, and ensuring that our reporting remains transparent and accountable.

Also, our commitment to quality journalism is unwavering. We adhere to the principles of accuracy, fairness and objectivity in our reporting. We believe in the power of informed citizens, and we strive to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions in your personal and professional life.

We at the Clarion also value your voice. We very much welcome your suggestion or story input. We encourage you to share your thoughts, feedback and opinions with us. Your perspectives matter, and we welcome them with open arms.

If you would like us to report on an event or a story, please do not hesitate to email us at Contact@ccclarion.com

I hope you as our audience make this transition with us and keep reading our stories. Thank you!
