College celebrates grand re-opening of ED Building

Citrus College celebrated the grand re-opening of its newly renovated ED building on Thursday.

Dignitaries present included the U.S. representative for California’s 28th congressional district, Judy Chu, the Citrus College Board of Trustees and some representatives of the five Citrus College school districts. 

The ED Building is the last of the $121 million Measure G construction bond passed in 2004 by voters in the Citrus College school district.

After a two-year construction process, the ED building features:

– A lactation area

– Classrooms

– A modern science laboratory

– Modern furniture

– Learning, testing, tutoring and writing centers

– Updated technology, including one that allows campus safety to lock and unlock the building remotely. 

The ED building received various certificates and awards, including a sustainability award. The ED building is estimated to save about 170,000 kilowatt-hours annually. 

Starting in the fall of 2023, science and English classes will be taught in the ED building.
