Correction 5/24/2021: “Administrative Policy 2431” was corrected to say “Administrative Procedure 2431.” Vice President of Finance and Administration Claudette Dain said Administrative Policies are used to guide processes, with the goal of carrying out Board Policy.
The Superintendent/President Search Committee at Citrus College has announced three finalists for the position, contrary to Administrative Procedure 2431, which says the committee should have at least five by the end of first-level interviews.
The finalists are Santanu Bandyopadhyay, Ph.D., Brian Sanders, Ed.D. and Greg Schulz, Ed.D.
Questions must be submitted by Friday on the Superintendent/President Finalists webpage. Questions will be reviewed by moderators and may be consolidated due to time constraints.
Santanu Bandyopadhyay, Ph.D.
Bandyopadhyay was named president of Modesto Junior College on May 12 and is said to assume the role on June 1. He is a first-generation immigrant who taught market research in India before moving to Ohio. There he became director of institutional research for Zane State College and budget and policy analyst for Ohio University.
After earning a master’s degree in business administration from Ohio University, Bandyopadhyay moved to California in 2009. He then became director of institutional research and planning at Cypress College. In 2013, he became the executive vice president of Cypress College, remaining there until 2018.
Before being named president of Modesto Junior College, Bandyopadhyay was president of Columbia College, also in the Yosemite Community College District.
Brian Sanders, Ed.D.
Sanders has a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from UC Santa Barbara, a master’s degree in mathematics from University of Oregon and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from UC Davis.
Sanders served briefly at Columbia College as vice president of college and administrative services before becoming the vice president of instruction and accreditation liaison officer in 2016. He also serves as the dean of science, mathematics and engineering at Modesto Junior College.
“I would be honored and humbled to serve as the next superintendent/president of Citrus College – a storied institution with a rich history as one of the first community colleges in California,” Sanders wrote in his bio on the Superintendent/President Finalists website. “Citrus College is a state leader in course success, program completion, and university transfer, especially for Latinx students, with a strong reputation and effective partnerships with business, industry, high schools, and universities.”
Greg Schulz, Ed.D.
Schulz is currently president of Fullerton College. He has an associate’s degree in business administration from Fullerton College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from California State University Fullerton, a master’s degree in public administration from California State University Long Beach and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from University of Southern California.
Before becoming president, Schulz served as interim president of Fullerton College. He served as dean of instruction and student services, manager of administrative services and provost of North Orange Continuing Education.
In addition, he served as interim director of fiscal affairs for North Orange County Community College district. He also served as dean of trades and industrial technologies at Long Beach City College, and as an adjunct associate professor at California State University Fullerton.
“Dr. Schulz is known for being an enthusiastic student-centered president and active in the life of the campus,” the website said. “He enjoys working with teams of faculty, managers and classified staff to help students thrive and reach their full potential.”
