Citrus College announces new Vice President of Academic Affairs

After months of searching, the Citrus College Board of Trustees approved the hiring of a new vice president of academic affairs on Nov. 17. Dr. Joumana McGowan will take over the position on Dec. 7 following Dr. Arvid Spor’s retirement.

McGowan recently served as the associate vice president of instructional services and dean of business at Mt. San Antonio College.

“I congratulate Dr. McGowan on her appointment, and I look forward to working with her to advance student success at Citrus College,” Superintendent/President Geraldine Perri said in a Nov. 19 press release. “Students, faculty and staff will benefit tremendously from Dr. McGowan’s leadership and knowledge.”

The position involves serving as chief academic officer and having responsibility for educational policy and academic programs while providing leadership for a multitude of initiatives and programs.

“I am thrilled to join Citrus College and look forward to working with the incredible faculty and staff,” McGowan said in the press release. “I am honored to become part of an institution that has served students for more than a century.”
