Citrus College classes will remain online in the fall semester, Student Services Vice President Martha McDonald and Academic Affairs Vice President Arvid Spor said in an email on May 22.
McDonald and Spor announced the Citrus campus will continue to be closed until at least Jan. 4, 2021, when winter instruction begins. They added the campus’ closure depends on the decisions of public health officials responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This decision was not an easy one to make, and we know this news may be disappointing,” McDonald and Spor said.
The move follows the California State University system and Los Angeles Community College District’s announcements of online-only education for fall earlier this month. The California Community College Athletics Association announced spring sports were canceled in an online statement on March 19. Citrus commencement for 2020 graduates is also postponed until Dec. 5.
Registration for fall and summer classes are open. Online classes begin Aug. 24 for fall and June 22 for summer.
“Though the campus will remain closed through the fall 2020 semester, we want to assure you that faculty and staff are dedicated to your success while learning in this new remote/online environment,” McDonald and Spor said.
McDonald and Spor referred students to the college website’s Owl Success Hub and COVID-19 pages for information about online instruction.
“We know this semester has been a difficult transition for some,”McDonald and Spor said. “Please know that we are here to help you and are committed to helping you achieve your educational goals.”
