How to occupy yourself while in quarantine during COVID-19 pandemic

With the stay-at-home order in full effect in California in order to lessen the spread of COVID-19, there’s no real reason to go outside at the moment other than grocery shopping.

When you’re stuck at home for an indefinite amount of time, boredom is inevitable. Fortunately, there’s always a way to keep yourself from dying of boredom during these trying times.

Watching TV or movies on a streaming service is an obvious idea. If you have Netflix, Hulu or any other service, you have a massive library of media to occupy yourself since the movie theaters are closed.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s a great time to watch something new or an old favorite. If you can’t afford a streaming service, you can still use apps like Pluto TV, which offers both live and on-demand TV to find something to watch also.

In addition to typical videos, you can buy or rent movies or TV shows on youtube, with some being free to watch with ads.

If watching TV isn’t your thing, you can always pick up a new book. Reading is always an excellent way to pass the time.

Just like TV, you don’t need to leave your house to find a good book. Barnes and Noble, Amazon or websites like manybooks.net and openlibrary.org have hundreds of ebooks you can read on your laptop, tablet or phone.

If you enjoy video games, options are available as well. Game consoles such as Xbox, PS4 or Nintendo Switch have many free games available on their respective stores.

Many PC game retailers such as Steam and the Epic Games Store have been offering various titles for free to enjoy while staying at home during the pandemic.

Sports fans aren’t left out either. With major sports leagues postponing their seasons’ fans are missing out on the action. The NFL, NBA and MLB are all offering free access to stream past games online.

If you’re a fitness-minded individual and your local gym is closed, you can still exercise in your own home. A few push-ups and sits ups daily can go a long way.

There are many resources, such as apps like MyFitnessPal and Google Fit to aid you. A simple google search will also reveal hundreds of workouts on different sites such as nerdfitness.com and acefitness.org.
