La Santa Cecilia, Grammy award-winning Mexican-American band for best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album in 2014, makes its way to perform in the Haugh Performing Arts Center, bringing different styles than expected with their music.
Their music is Indie Rock, where contemporary pop collides with traditional Mexican music using rhythms from cumbia, bossa nova, soul R&B, ska and jazz.
La Santa Cecilia has composed six albums overall in their career, and their signature sound originates in 2007. La Santa Cecilia explores all aspects of Mexican-American culture and expresses the internal beauty and struggles of the Latino community with their music.
“Mexico Americano” is a single that demonstrates their pride in their culture. Struggles are also addressed with controversial songs like “ICE El Hielo.”
The Los Angeles-based band is comprised of Marisol Hernandez, Jose Carlos, Alex Bendaña and Miguel Ramirez.
The concert is on March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Haugh. Ticket prices vary, starting from $32 for 16 and under, $39 for students and seniors, and a regular price of $42.
