Citrus College Owls volleyball ended their season with a 3-1 home loss against Orange Coast College Pirates on Nov. 14.
The Owls finished the season with an 8-22 record.
Orange Coast controlled the Owls by the first set, scoring 25-12. The Pirates’ offense overpowered Citrus who looked sluggish after a long season.
Citrus redoubled its effort in the second and third sets. The Owls battled in the second set with a 25-21 loss. They won the third set. The set was the Owls’ only triumph in the game.
But the season was not all disappointment for the team. Western State Conference player of the year Gina Lipscomb capped her season with her fifth straight game with 15 or more kills.
“She’s a relentless person and that helps her on the volleyball court,” said Shin Lung, the Owls head coach.
