High speed pursuit puts Citrus College on lockdown

Two suspects of an armed robbery were apprehended at Citrus College after a high speed chase prompting a campus lockdown beginning around 11:20 a.m. June 15.

Two men robbed a pharmacy in Glendora at gunpoint and fled the scene directly before the chase Glendora police said.

The pursuit ended at Citrus when the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a pole. One suspect got out of the car to run into the Student Services building on the west side of campus.

A second suspect was apprehended around 11:00 a.m. on the corner of Citrus avenue and west Foothill Boulevard on the border of Azusa and Glendora.

“The persons responsible for the crime are in custody” Glendora Chief of Police Lisa Rosales said in a tweet.

Police presence lightened around 11:30 with a helicopter still circling overhead.

The lockdown lifted at 11:55 a.m.

Azusa and Glendora police will continue to be in the area as the investigation is ongoing, an Azusa officer said in a video posted to twitter.

“The situation is safe, there is no harm to the community” the Azusa officer said.
