Citrus women’s soccer closed out their final game before the postseason begins with a 2-0 victory over Antelope Valley at Citrus College on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Sophomore midfielder Zariah Silva put Citrus on the scoreboard with her second goal of the season 28 minutes into the first half.
Madison Hunt, sophomore midfielder for Citrus, took a pass from freshman forward Jaline Miranda and found the back of the net one minute into the second half. It was Hunt’s third goal of the season for the team.
Tim Tracey, in his 11th season as head coach, leads his team into the postseason riding a wave of momentum, having only lost one game since a Sep. 29 defeat to College of the Canyons. Since that loss, Citrus boasted a record of 8-1-4.
The offense has been there for Citrus, having scored at least one goal in 13 of their last 15 matches. That may be all they need if freshman goalkeeper, Amber Henry, continues her impressive play. Henry has seven shutouts on the season.
#16 Citrus (10-5-5) will host #17 Santa Monica (11-6-4) on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Citrus College Stadium.
