One of the best, inexpensive options during the hot summer months, no doubt, is a trip to the beach to bum out in the sand. But, before you know it, that free activity is compounded by a $20-30 gas cost, $6-20 to park, another $5-15 for food, and the expenses that any other indulgences may cost.
So, as another alternative for staying frugal in So Cal maybe the next best option for beating the heat this summer is being in a darkly lit, air-conditioned room for a matter of hours, and there may be no better place to do that than going to the movies.
Now I know this can be a pricey option, but keep listening, because there are definitely ways to keep it cheap.
If you’re not already aware of the Regency 10 theaters located in the Citrus Crossing shopping center (South west corner of Citrus & Route 66), here’s your notice. During the day, ticket prices are only $6 until 5 p.m. After that time, prices go up to a still reasonable $8.
Also with sweet weekly deals are any of the Edwards Theaters located closest to us here in the east San Gabriel Valley. These include the West Covina, La Verne, and El Monte locations where on Tuesdays and Sundays ticket prices are only $6 all day.
So hit your favorite bargain store, stuff your friend or girlfriend’s bag full of your favorite snacks and don’t miss out on Hollywood’s blockbusters this summer, just remember to keep it cheap.
For the 21+, an offer to satisfy your palate. As many students may already know, Marie Callender’s is a great place to take grandma & grandpa for a good meal & excellent pie. But for the unassuming passerby, Marie Callendar’s actually happens to house one of the best happy hours in the area, voted best in the San Gabriel Valley by SGV Tri- bune, two out of the last three years.
So at week’s end, after that grueling test, or just to unwind, you can literally walk, don’t drive, down to Marie Callender’s weekdays between 3-7 p.m. for a two-for-one drink special, that is only made better with a free food option ranging from mini corndogs to Irish nachos and sliders to make-your-own tacos. See you there.
